The Word of God is challenging...

So I just got finished with going to each one of my classes once. All we did was talk about the syllabus and what is all expected of us in the class and then some professors started lecturing if they had time to. I knew the Bible was going to be a challenge, but I didn't think I would feel so dumb about not knowing anything. We say we are "christians" and we grow up going to church every Sunday, yet we dont know hardly anything about the Bible. What does that say about us? What does God think of us? I'm ashamed and embarassed. I just hope (well i know) that God knows I'm here so I can study him and learn more about him so I can serve him respectively for the rest of my life. Wow, this is going to be some intense program. But I am very excited, more than I can show or explain!

A New Chapter (in my life)

For those few of you who actually read my blog, haha, I'd be happy to share with you what I have been up to the past couple of days. I arrived at Grace University in Omaha on Saturday and moved in and since then we've had all sorts of different activities with all the new students, and now with the returning students. Classes start tomorrow. I'm kind of nervous, but more ready to get down to business and dig deep into the passion I was driving myself to come here for in the first place. This will be quite an adventure, let me tell you!! This semester I'm taking Old Testament Survey (which is a general overview of the first half of the Bible), Theology of Church Missions, Daniel and Revelation, Intro to Philosophy (hmmm, I'm not sure about this one- doesn't sound to easy), and Healthy Lifestyles for Women. We are also required to do a Servant Leadership Training thing once a semester for all the years we are here. Of course I'm going to do something with my major. I have a couple of options- working with inner city kids after school, working with cross-cultural churches, working with just youth and children, etc. I'm excited, yet nervous and scared at the same time. My passion is people and it is to go overseas, but I also have not been exposed to much of any cultures in my whole lifetime. I grew up in a town with all white people. I went on a missions trip for 2 1/2 weeks but that really isn't that long at all! But I think that this will be a great learning experience and maybe it will open up some more doors and opportunities I never thought of earlier. I'll keep you all posted, but for now, below I have a picture of us new students on our hall including TL's. (It was at ConAgra Park, just north of Grace near downtown and the Old Market)

GIFT BOXES

These are gift boxes that I made from a print layout design and just folded and glued a couple of the sides. Then I added ribbon for decoration. Some of the papers are plain, patterned, flocked, glittery, and even foiled. Very cute for a small gift and to add lots of goodies!

Photo Frame Altered

A notebook I made today. I made it simple because that's what i felt like going for in style. The back is just red and a little bit distressed! For sale also.

I made this frame for my niece, Ava. I actually bought the original frame on sale at Hobby Lobby and covered it with paper and embellishments. It's a high-quality frame also because it is metal, and quite heavy. I am custom-making these also, check out my online shop for more information on it! http://amandalarsen7.etsy.com/

Wall Art

I made these blocks just today for my niece's room. It was pretty simple and all I used were plain pieces of wood, paint, embellishments, distress ink, butterflies, rub-ons and more. Hope you enjoy!
